Certification & compliance
Every garment ships with its CE certificate, Declaration of Conformity and technical datasheet. Here is what those documents mean and how to get them.
High-visibility clothing is personal protective equipment, and in the European Union PPE is regulated. This page explains what that means for you as a buyer, and what you receive from us.
The legal framework
PPE sold in the EU falls under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. High-visibility clothing is Category II PPE, which means it cannot simply be self-declared by the manufacturer: it has to be type-examined by an independent notified body, which issues an EU type-examination certificate for the garment.
The regulation also requires that the Declaration of Conformity is made available to the buyer. That is not a courtesy document — it is the manufacturer's formal statement that the garment meets the regulation, and you are entitled to it.
What you get with every product
- EU type-examination certificate — issued by the notified body, naming the garment and the standards it was tested against.
- Declaration of Conformity — the manufacturer's declaration under Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
- Technical datasheet — fabric composition, weights, colourfastness and care.
- Test report, where the notified body's underlying measurements are relevant to your specification.
- User manual and care instructions — including the maximum number of wash cycles, which is part of the certification and not a suggestion.
These are downloadable from each product page. You do not need an account and you do not need to ask.
Reading the standards
Each product lists the standards it meets and the class it achieves — for example EN ISO 20471 Class 3 for the highest level of visibility, or EN 343 4/1 for rain protection. The class matters as much as the standard: a Class 1 garment and a Class 3 garment both meet EN ISO 20471, but only one of them is appropriate on a motorway at night.
Expiry dates
Certificates are issued with a validity period, and they do expire. When one of ours is out of date, the product page says so in plain sight rather than hiding the document. A supplier quietly serving an expired certificate is a worse problem than one telling you a renewal is in progress, and we would rather you heard it from us.
Requesting documents for a tender
If you need a compliance pack assembled for a tender or an audit — several products, specific formats, or documents in a particular language — tell us what the submission requires and we will put it together. Certificates are often issued in one language while the tender is in another; we will tell you which languages we hold before you commit.
